Where we are located
Perhaps best of all, I can walk into town, to restaurants and shops . . the historic area and waterfront. I walked to the theatre for a performance of “Anne of Green Gables” one evening and enjoyed a moonlit stroll home.
The Globe and Mail, TorontoWe are located in a quiet residential neighbourhood on a secluded acre estate, (built in 1889 for Sir Samuel Cunard’s grandson Arthur Peters), just a fifteen minute walk from Confederation Centre of the Arts and downtown restaurants and shopping. Four blocks away is beautiful Victoria Park on the harbour, featuring a water’s edge boardwalk, swimming, horseshoes, and tennis on lighted courts, along with groomed cross country ski trails in winter.

A tall rambling Victorian home located beneath an umbrella of elm trees . . . is a delightful peaceful setting, conducive to a good night’s sleep.

From the Charlottetown Airport, take the roadway out of the Airport and continue straight onto Sherwood Road. Go through one traffic light and then straight to a Stop sign which is at the Lower Malpeque Road at a “T” intersection. Turn LEFT onto Lower Malpeque Road which is also Route 236. When you get to the first traffic light you are crossing the Trans Canada Highway where it enters Charlottetown. This is North River Road which is our street. Continue down North River Road, about 3.4 kilometers (2.1 miles), through four stop lights, past a sports field, skating rink and high school. That leads to a stop sign at the corner of McGill Ave. Our lane is 1 1/2 blocks after that stop sign. We are on the RIGHT up a long angled driveway with black wrought iron gates at the end. The end of the driveway is directly across from where “Green Street” enters North River Road, between #117 and #115 which is a grey cottage style house. From the Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick, take the Trans Canada Route #1 into Charlottetown, about 45 minutes. While still on the outskirts, you will go through a short bit of construction at a bridge then up and down a hill and pass a new Holiday Inn Express on your right. Turn RIGHT at the light at the bottom of that hill. It is Route 236 and also North River Road. Continue down North River Road, about 3.4 kilometers, through four stop lights, past a sports field, skating rink and high school. From the Nova Scotia Ferry – http://www.peiferry.com/route_schedule/ Take the Trans Canada Route #1 into town (approximately 45 minutes). Cross the Hillsborough Bridge into town. Turn LEFT at the 1st light at the end of the bridge. This is Water St. Continue along Water to the fourth stop sign which is where Water Street ends at Haviland St. Turn RIGHT. Haviland Street becomes Rochford Street after a few short blocks. Go to the third stop sign which is at Euston St. Turn LEFT. Euston becomes Brighton Road. Take the 3rd RIGHT, it is Route 236 North and also North River Road. Go up past Admiral Street which is the third street on the left. On the LEFT is 113 at the corner, then 115 a grey house set back about 50 feet. Turn LEFT up our lane which has black wrought iron gates at the end. Just opposite our lane is Green Street which comes into North River Road on the Right. house set back about 50 feet from the street). Our Elmwood Heritage Inn sign is to the right of the driveway up on a small knoll. Just drive in as if you were coming to visit friends, park opposite the front porch and ring the bell next to the door.
